Nadal Making a Style Change? Not at the Moment.
According to today's Wall Street Journal, Nike is actively trying to get Nadal to change his on-court style, possibly go to a more "mature" look. He is listening, but changing? Not at the moment. The look works; he's number one and he's not changing. Maybe after the Open. The image here was taken from the practice courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Definitely no sign of change. Even on practice day, he's wearing the tried and true gear.
Nike and other retailers do well when athletes change it up. Maria Sharapova wears a different outfit to every major as does Serena Williams. The guys change it up a lot less; Nadal even less so. Check out Matthew Futterman's original article here online at the WSJ.
