Pure Drive’s Got a Rockin Red Dress for the French.
With a nod to Babolat's 135th anniversary and the upcoming French Open, French brand Babolat has dressed up the Pure Drive GT in red, red clay to be exact. It is called the Pure Drive 135 in its reincarnation. This is a special commemorative edition racquet for collectors and Pure Drive enthusiasts. There are no changes other than design, $189.00 USD.
A little history: The Pure Drive made the limelight in 1998 when Carlos Moya won the French Open with his "blue" weapon. The new special edition version is said to pay homage to the Spanish champion's victory with that very first Babolat racquet.
Look for the 135th anniversary bag on court this month as each member of team Babolat (Nadal, Roddick, Wozniacki and more) will carry it at Roland Garros from May 18 – June 6.
No word on whether or not someone will play with the birthday racquet.
