Farewell Andy Roddick, and Thank You.

Andy Roddick Lacoste US Open_edited-1And so we say farewell (not goodbye)  to Andy Roddick after thirteen years on the ATP tour. Has it really been that long?

I cried, through the entire last two games of the delPo match. Pretty common reaction looking around the stands. He had most of us at trophy hug back in 2003.

A last look here at Roddick's on court apparel as tour player. Yup classic polo and shorts, that's Andy, he doesn't push the envelope in the fashion dept., but this time he's got dancin' feet:

BTW, I just spotted this gem, the Lacoste Men's Fall Roddick Jacket, $165. Pictured is the back of the zip up. How much do YOU love A.R.?

Next stop? He's headed to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut for a charity event.

My guess is that his calendar will fill quickly and that he, like John McEnroe, Brad Gilbert and Martina Navaratilova, will become an A+ commentator sitting courtside at the Open, giving his opinion in no uncertain terms. I look forward.

Thanks for the tennis Andy.  You will be missed.
