PBS ‘American Masters’ to profile Billie Jean King, first athlete in the series’ 27 years.

"American Masters Billie Jean King" will premiere nationally Tuesday, September 10 on PBS to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of tennis' King v. Riggs "The Battle of the Sexes" and the birth of the WTA, both led by Ms. King. This is the first time that 27-Year "American Masters" series has ever covered a sports figure.

"Billie Jean King embodies the art of sports, of humanism, and of activism," said Susan Lacy, creator and executive producer of American Masters. "For more than 50 years, her excellence and example have sparked the way for changes that enrich us all. Billie Jean's star on our cultural landscape shines brighter and brighter, with no end in sight."
