New Balance has announced its new 996 tennis shoe and the first of a cool new 4 Majors tennis collection.

New Balance 996 labelThe 996 is a lightweight shoe with advanced stability technology and a hot new look. 

4 Majors is a special 996 collection inspired by the locations hosting each major tennis tournament. A stitched decal on the tongue of each slam's shoe highlights: a "7" for the NYC subway line to Queens, a kangaroo for Australia, a royal crown for England, and the Arc de Triomphe for France.

The NYC 996 colorway will be available August 15 and will retail for $109.95. Other tourney shoes will be available as those dates approach. Here's a sneak peek at the 996 planned for the Australian Open:
