Fila’s design team named a WGSN Global Fashion Awards finalist.

Congratulations to Fila, recently named a finalist in the WGSN (World Global Style Network) Global Fashion Awards in the Sports/Activewear category. The prestigious awards recognize fashion on an international scale and cover mass market to luxury fashion, and budding to established designers.

Below is one of the Fila submitted designs that earned the spot on the WGSN  short list.

This particular tennis kit was worn by Kim Clijsters at the Australian Open in 2011 and was inspired by stand-out styles in Fila's archives. 14-time Grand Slam title winner Evonne Goolagong wore a similar look during her reign in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Clijster's kit was a look with a story that intertwined, style, history, athletics, tennis and women in sports. Kudos to the judges for recognizing this effort alongside a fun and functional modern day style.

Other brands in the running for the award include: Polartec, Under Armour and Sweaty Betty. Final awards will be announced October 30 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
