Madison Keys, American Express + USTA team up. Fresh Courts makes tennis accessible for more kids.
Madison Keys recently joined American Express and the USTA to unveil three new tennis courts at the Hodge Park Community Tennis Courts in Rock Island, Illinois. The initiative was led by Fresh Courts, a community funding effort in which American Express, in partnership with the USTA, invests in developing new generations of tennis fans, players and champions by renovating existing tennis facilities in communities across the country.
Years back, Keys' parents themselves looked to these community tennis courts to give Madison an opportunity to start playing tennis, free of charge. Madison will be competing at the upcoming 2013 US Open and she hopes to return the town's favor with these new and refurbished courts in Hodge Park.
As the US looks to find more athletically inclined kids to play tennis, refurbished courts and free programs will go a long way to making our sport accessible both geographically and financially.
