Tennis Identity

7 new trends in tennis apparel.

Tennis fashion is ever challenged by the fact that it has to be functional at a high level of play. Below are 7 NEW tennis apparel trends that work well on court and express individual identity:

Fila short side viewAnimal/reptile prints for men. Fila is showing them in sections of subtle tonal snakeskin (see left). Asics is using bengal tiger stripes.

Athletic DNA BLK OPS tee mensCamo. This combat staple has been reincarnated by Athletic DNA in performance fabric for battle between recreational lines.

EleVen tie die topTie-Dye. Venus William's newest EleVen collection is the first brand I've seen pull this casual summer staple onto the court. Set in sleek figure flattering blue or pink stripes, this tie dye is not to be confused with that worn by Dead Heads.

Adidas tennis shortsShort lengths. Because tennis loving guys come in all heights, ages and styles, men are seeing a growing variety of short lengths, just like the ladies and skorts. I've seen inseams of 4.75" to 7" to 9.25." Have it your way boys.

Nike Serena Williams tennis dressTabs. Nike is the first to use this interesting new technical feature which was installed in Serena William's dress at the Australian Open. The brand added flat rubber tabs around the armholes and at the front of William's dress. The tabs kept the dress in place while Serena did her thing on court. The tabs are not in the at-retail dresses but the technique is worth noting. It's likely coming soon for larger chested tennis mortals in higher price ranges.

Asics mesh shirt Ventilation with a capital V. This shirt (left) by Asics is the first full mesh men's shirt I've seen designed for tennis. On the rack it doesn't look to be see-through but it does offer the highest level of ventilation you can find with a shirt on.

Custom cuts. Customized tennis gear is no longer only for tennis footwear. With Nu in the game, guys can easily rock the court, crazy as they want to be I say.
