Tennis whites, long a staple of private tennis clubs, are growing in popularity. Case in point, Fila’s spring 2014 Lawn Collection, above, on Julia Goerges at Wimbledon, was a HUGE hit; selling out, again and again and again this spring. The collection of tennis whites proved so popular Fila now plans to offer Lawn year-round.

As is required with reinventing tennis whites (and few did much this Yawnbledon), Fila’s lead designer for women’s and men’s tennis, Francine Candiotti, found new ways of expressing tennis style using only one color. Her elegant take took pleats that have adorned tennis skirts for centuries and made them look relevant and fresh.

Another plus, the collection transcends age, looking good and appropriate on every age player, something very hard to do.

Lawn Collection (dress and separates) has been continued through fall 2014 and will roll out further in 2015. With Candiotti at the helm, the future looks bright for white.

The popular style is also now out in bright pink and black
