Smoothie of the month: Instant Fuel

SmoothieStart your day with all natural, high fiber and energy rich combination! This Instant Fuel smoothie contains that boost of energy you need to start your day while also fulfilling a part of your daily fruit and vegetable intake.

Toss everything in a good blender and mix on high till completely smooth.

    • 1 cup chopped kale
    • ½ avocado (peeled and pitted)
    • 1 pear (cored and sliced)
    • 1 Granny Smith apple (cored and sliced)
    • ¼ cup flax seeds
    • 1 banana (peeled)
    • 1 cup frozen strawberries 
    • ½ cup water
    • 1 T honey
    • ½ cup Greek plain yogurt

Why it works: This smoothie contains kale which is high in fiber and contains iron, antioxidants, and vitamin K. Strawberries add vitamin C, potassium, folate, fiber and antioxidants. The Greek plain yogurt will add texture and flavor, while also incorporating protein and calcium. Avocados are filled with vitamins and minerals that help to lower your cholesterol levels and assist in maintaining a healthy heart. The flax seeds contain Omega-3 fatty acids which are also known as “good” fats.

This recipe makes enough for 2-3 people.
