Stella luvs tennis. A look back. #TBT

Stella McCartney and adidas are celebrating 10 years together. In honor of the milestone, I’m taking a look back at some of Ms. McCartney’s tennis fashions over the years.

2008

I first covered the co-piloted line back in SS 2008 (images above) and was blown away by the detail, fabric and subtle cool of all the garments. Have I bought everything that’s come out since then? No, not everything. The brand has moved away from the more artsy, delicate feel it had at its tennis beginnings and instead towards more athletic styling with a variety of waistlines (some I like more than others mainly because of how they look on me). I do consistently love the plays with textures, layering and pops of color.

Enjoy scrolling through the years (watch Caro grow up!). My gallery ends in the planned look for Paris Open 2015.

Spring Summer 2009

Maria Kirilenko was adidas by Stella McCartney’s first tennis ambassador (below). Then came Caroline Wozniacki.

When Caroline Wozniacki was brought on board in 2009, Kirilenko moved to wear adidas Barricade but was brought back in 2013 when adidas merged McCartney’s line with the Barricade brand. Now wearing the collection are: Wozniacki, Kirilenko,  Flavia Pennetta, Garbine Mugaruza and Andrea Petkovic.

  1. I actually still like Caro’s black dress with yellow accent last 2010. I also like her dress for French Open last year. Those two are my favorites. It’s a good thing they added few more players in the roster. I believe Maria Kirilenko really suits the dresses made by Stella. Everything seems perfect on her. Petko also looks nice on Adidas by Stella McCartney. I wonder if in the future they’ll make a men’s line. That would be interesting.
