Let’s be careful out there
On-court player security made the headlines recently, when a reckless kid with a smartphone ran on court in Paris to take a photo with Roger Federer, who wasn’t a bit happy about it, either.
And of course, tennis fans remember the Seles incident back in 1993.
Now comes this video from Twitter that shows Australian teen Thanasi Kokkinakis getting up close and personal during a changeover at The Boodles exhibition in London. Players can’t have it both ways- they don’t want people running on the court, which is very understandable. But at the same time, they shouldn’t encourage this type of fan behavior. (BTW, Kokkinakis attributed his earlier loss at Queen’s to “celebrities in the crowd.”)
Maybe he should focus more on the opponent across the net, and less on who is in the seats.
