Fila and Packer Shoes team up for ITHF release
Packer Shoes and Fila have teamed up on two pairs of limited-edition tennis lifestyle shoes, debuting today at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, R.I. The designs reflect the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s (ITHF) new brand identity including an updated logo, which was unveiled at the grand re-opening of The Museum at the ITHF in May. This is the museum’s first footwear collaboration.
The Original Tennis shoe was created with an off-white suede upper, perforated quarter, Sycamore/Fila Red tumbled leather flag, gum bottom and terry lining, with the ITHF footbed and Packer embroidered detail back collar.
The shoes will be releasing at Packer retail location in Teaneck and online, beginning on Saturday, July 18. A select number will be available in Newport during the Championships tournament. The T1-Mid and Original Tennis pairs will retail for $110. A portion of the proceeds of sales of the shoe will be donated to junior tennis programs at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
The T-1 Mid and Original Tennis shoes will also feature a 2D rubberized hangtag, a replica of the ITHF’s new logo. Each style will be wrapped up in custom packaging, including a pull-drawer box and tissue.
Look for a matching clothing line too; the Packer announcement includes an “ATP Newport” Capsule Collection, from Fila Tennis, the ITHOF and Ebbetts Field. It features a white wool 6-panel construction with metalic gold tennis ratchet embroidery on the front and green satin underbrim.
These are the “ATP Newport” Essence Hardcourt Shorts ($40 USD) and the Performance Knit Polo ($48 USD). The dual-branding of both pieces serve as throwback of sorts to the original tennis line made famous by Bjorn Borg.
