Reinventing tennis whites.

Coming up with something new in solid white is one of tennis’ greatest fashion challenges. Ladies first… The seven Wimbledon friendly tennis dresses and separates below played with texture, layering, cutouts and mesh to create stand-out performance tennis whites for the court.

Caroline Wozniacki wears adidas by Stella McCartney. The faux wrap and cut out are on point and in keeping with what’s hot in dresses right now. I find the hemline a little distracting without any of the same up top (might be good in that open triangle), but it’s not the only dress at Wimbledon that tried a mesh hem with an edge of modern.

Jelena Jankovic wears Fila’s Lawn Dress. Sleek lines and no chafe seams cut a sleek figure in a new way.

Fila also showed the above pieces from its Goddess collection on Irina Camelia-Begu.  The soft wrap waistline and tailored skort evoke a hint of Roman togas (Goddess attire). Very pretty and not too clingy – an excellent option for those who don’t do tight tops.

Ana Ivanovic wears adidas Barricade. I love the strappy criss cross back and tonal horizontal stripes that wrap the body, a sporty foil for a fresh, flippy skirt – no fuss.

Sofia Zhuk (Jr player) wears Nike (Breathe Tank and Skort). What’s new is the deep scoop neck and body hugging layered look top combined with drop waist wide pleated skort – winning.

Petra Kvitova wears Nike (Fall Pure Top and Flouncy Skort). An open, modern cut neckline and capped sleeves spin a new look for the polo.

Camila Giorgi wears…we don’t know. Giorgi can be counted on to be fashionably dressed at every tournament – always body hugging, almost always touched with lace. We’ve written about her former apparel providers (and Mom as seamstress) in the past and we do know she is actively seeking an apparel contract. She’s asking for a lot (a little birdie told us) so until that big day comes she’ll choose her own, always feminine styles. I love the stretch lace overlay on these pieces. The short top would bother me but it looks super cute on Giorgi.

Love the look of tennis whites. Guys coming up next.

  1. I actually like Ana’s dress. Very sporty, elegant and chic. Camila wears her mom’s creations. I find it unique and very feminine. You miss Sloane’s dress. I think it’s a major fashion hit as well. I like Julia’s kit than JJ’s this year for Fila.
