Tennis fashion’s biggest stage plays catwalk

Matt Ebden in Fila

Tennis apparel struts the biggest catwalk in the fashion industry. I call it the court-walk. It was especially true Thursday as Fila’s tennis fashions took to historic grass court turned stage at the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) in Newport.

As we watched from just outside the lines, players, including pros on site for this year’s Championships, modeled the goods (Matt Ebden above). Just steps away, the ITHF’s  tennis museum, home to some of the most memorable tennis fashions in history, brought the show full circle and made this tennis first particularly noteworthy.

Here are some of my favorite looks from Fila. The longtime tennis fashion brand gave us a preview of planned U.S. Open 2015 tennis fashions, and showed all of its current collections, Heritage, Citrus Brights and Lawn. Women will love the ultra feminine back treatments and pink silhouettes on the upcoming lines and men, the subtle, handsome plays with color.

That flirty hemline was omnipresent on the pink women’s styles.

Below, although not tennis fashion, I couldn’t pass on this awesome shot of Austin Krajicek wearing Brooks Brothers.
