UA vs Adidas: Game ON at the US Open

Usually the battles are fought on court. This battle, though, is being fought through social media. It seems that Andy Murray, despite his comprehensive UA deal, is still wearing his longtime adidas Barricade sneakers. @AdidasTennis took note of this, too. (Click to enlarge.)

Murray, of course, left adidas at the first of the year to sign a big deal with Maryland-based Under Armour. He’s been wearing the clothing since January, complete with a new AM logo. The understanding was he would wear adidas shoes until UA had a shoe ready for him- something they didn’t have in their line. And sure enough, Murray debuted a grass court shoe for Wimbledon. (More here.)

After Wimbledon, it was back to the Barricade. It seemed logical to assume that the hardcourt shoe would debut at Flushing Meadow, but no such luck. We’ve contacted Under Armour multiple times about the hard court shoe, but they have not responded.
