5 last minute (but awesome) gifts for a tennis lover
So you ran out of time. Here are some last-minute tennis gift ideas. Wrap any of these up with a fresh can of bright yellow tennis balls and you’ve got something to put under the tree. Happiness is:
Tournament Tickets. There are professional tennis tournaments around the globe year round; check our 2016 Pro Tennis Calendar here. A day, two (or more!) at any one of them would be exciting to look forward to. The Slams, of course, are priority, but if you just can’t get there, any of the regional tournaments are a gas. I like early rounds myself, when you maximize your player viewing possibilities. Simply go to any tournament’s website and click on tickets.
Gift Cards. All tennis retailers offer gift cards so your player can pick out something they like themselves. Yes, so obvious but I know I can vouch for any player and say we LOVE getting tennis gift cards.
Live Pro Tennis Year Round. There are two premier services that offer year-round tennis viewing online (yes on your phone and all mobile devices), Tennis TV and Tennis Channel Plus. Give someone a year’s subscription.
License to String. Stringing gets expensive, especially when you are a string breaker. Give the gift of stringing at your local club or racquet shop. Having a budget in this area also encourages some experimentation with different strings and tensions. Who knows, maybe your player go up levels with a change and you will be the recipient of an real abundance of gratitude.
Membership with the Greats of the Game. The International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island is a tennis lover’s mecca. Membership is a good start but make a plan to go play on the grass courts and visit the gorgeous museum. Newport in summer is New England at its best.
