Nike At The Australian Open 2016: Women’s Tennis Fashion

Share

Nike has rolled out its women’s tennis fashions for the Australian Open which is just around the corner. Here is what Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Genie Bouchard will wear on court. Madison Keys is included here as well wearing some of Nike’s new practice apparel. (See the AO men here.)

Nike’s spring 2016 line is available to buy here. White bases are complemented with pops of primary colors plus orange, making team Nike look like a well coordinated but colorful army.

Serena Williams will rock a crop top (NikeCourt Premier) paired with a micro-pleated tennis skirt.  The look is her own design.

Serena has worn crop tops before. Here she is at the 2004 at the U.S. Open and she’s at it again in a little cut off tee shirt design.

Maria Sharapova will wear a far more traditional style accented by a back zipper and overall mesh for breathability. It’s called the Nike Premier Maria DressNikeCourt_Maria_Sharapova_native_600

Here’s the front. My guess is that this color is the retail orange.

Genie Bouchard will also wear a new Premier Slam tennis dress this one with a design that reflects the mirage of heat haze that is omnipresent at the height of Melbourne’s summer.

Madison Keys is shown here in some of the practice style that Nike is sending to Australia with its athletes. Players will wear the brand at practice, in competition (of course) and off with lifestyle looks created just for the first Slam of the season.

No word yet on Vika Azarenka.

  1. Wow. Looks great. Looking forward to seeing them all take the court in a few days! FWIW, Serena also wore a crop top at the 2004 US Open.

  2. I love Maria’s dress although I miss her elegance in the court. The color will definitely pop in the Australian hardcourts. Serena’s canary yellow crop top will definitely be a big fashion hit. Genie’s dress is very basic but will still be functional. I’m excited for Vika’s gear. I hope she uses shorts like good old days.
