Serena’s Black History Month Flare for style
Nike introduced the Flare last summer at Wimbledon for Serena Williams. That color scheme was a little more understated due to the rules of engagement at SW19. This latest Flare version is called the BHM Edition , and it’s Nike’s tennis nod to Black History Month which is in February. Serena is wearing the shoe at the Australian Open, and the bold design certainly matches her personality and playing style.
The lightweight shoe comes in at just 10.2 ounces (for a size 8.5) offers extra ankle support via the mesh upper, and is shown in its only color scheme.
Proceeds from the sale of this shoe support the Nike Even Higher Fund which assists communities with knowledge, resources and tools to encourage and engage the development of the next generation of leaders. Cost is $200 USD.
This is not the first time Serena has worn specially apparel in honor of Black History Month. Here are her accessories: in 2012, as example.
