#TennisParadise – There’s an app for that
There’s no doubt that mobile phone technology has changed the way we live. Lost in the city? There’s an app for that. Want a pizza delivered? There’s an app for that. (And on and on and on.) Fans attending the BNP Paribas Open (“The 5th Slam” or #TennisParadise) in Indian Wells, California can bring the tournament with them on their iPhone or Android phone with the updated BNPPO app.
It’s a great companion that enhances the on-site experience with the following features:
* Practice court schedule.
* Live radio broadcast.
* Full event guide with event calendar, dining options with menus, shopping, and hotel shuttle information.
* Maps including a “save my car location” feature.
* New location-based notification, based on beacon technology. Alerts sent throughout the day on promotions, events, etc.
* Live scores, results, draws, and daily order of play.
Other major tourneys have their own dedicated apps, like Wimbledon, the Australian, French, and U.S. Opens, and the upcoming Miami event. (Though the Roland Garros app seems to be MIA in the Google Play store for the moment.) The specific event apps seem to have a lot of great detailed info- player bios, schedules, seating locations, things fans need to know.
Interested in those Slam apps or tennis apps in general? Click here for Google Play Android Store, and search “Tennis” in the Apple app store. A cursory spin through both stores reveals what appears to be a lot of junk, so let the downloader beware. IMO, stick with the major tourney apps.
