Federer and Nike athletes salute Kobe Bryant
Tonight, NBA star Kobe Bryant plays the final game of his career as his Lakers host the Utah Jazz in LA. He started his NBA career in adidas, but eventually signed with the Swoosh. Nike has made a media hysteria out of his last game- can you believe it- and has their stable of athletes in various sports wearing the black/gold colors of Bryant, AKA “The Black Mamba.” Note Roger Federer’s Vapor 9.5 shoes on the court in Monte Carlo- they also have “4.13.16” printed on them.
Those black/gold Fed shoes won’t be sold to us mere mortals. But you will be able to buy a special hoops model- the Kobe 11 FTB– starting today at Nike.com. And we’re pretty sure Genie got hers for free:
“I have once used his name as an emoji. Ko and then a bee. (Ko🐝 Bry🐜) So it was actually quite funny.” -Roger Federer.
“He always played because he loved the sport, not for any other reason.” -Serena Williams.
