Meet the Hannibal, adidas’ latest warrior Barricade
It’s named HANNIBAL but it’s not from that movie. Rather, the adidas Barricade 2016 Hannibal commemorates Hannibal Barca of Carthage, considered to be one of the greatest military strategists in history.
The Hannibal is the latest in adidas’ “Strategy Pack” a group of sneakers that commemorate warriors of different kinds.
At first, I thought the upper looked like…rocks. Nope! Read your history. Hannibal used elephants to cross the Alps during one of his military campaigns, thus the elephant skin-like upper as well as elephant logo on the tongue. (It’s faux OF COURSE, a representation of a powerful animal. Ride it into your game if you will).
As an added touch, “Aut viam inveniam aut faciam” meaning “I will either find a way or make one” in Latin, is printed on the back of the tongue and the insole, to honor Hannibal’s celebrated journey into Rome.

And a closer look at some of the details:

The Fit: Length fits true to size. Width is medium but slightly snug through the forefoot. Arch support is medium. No break-in required
The Midsole: AdiPrene+ inserts in the heel and forefoot for good cushioning, energy return and support. Revolutionary Barricade midfoot chassis locks in the foot for maximum stability during lateral movements. The Outsole: AdiWear 6 rubber outsole in a modified herringbone tread pattern offers excellent durability and traction on any court surface.
