Emilio Sánchez Vicario receives Fair Play Mecenate award
Emilio Sánchez Vicario was recently awarded the prestigious “Fair Play Mecenate” prize for his charitable work with the Emilio Sánchez Vicario Foundation (ESV) based in Barcelona Spain. Vicario is also CEO and Founder of the renowned Sánchez-Casal Academy which is based in Barcelona with branches in Florida and China.
The Foundation, a private non-profit, is passionate about how sport and tennis in particular can contribute to personal development, and promotes tennis for people with physical, intellectual and sensory disabilities.
The Fair Play Mecenate award is the most important in Italy related to sport and also appoints the winner the new Fair Play Ambassador. The decision was made by an international jury made up of figures from all around the world, including journalists and representatives from institutions from the world of sport.
“For me, I never expected to receive this prize, it is such a pleasant surprise and I’m delighted. It’s not just special to me because it recognizes charitable work, but because it is awarded by a country like Italy – my wife Simona is Italian,” Emilio Sánchez Vicario.
The prizes were presented at a gala, retransmitted live by the television channel RAI TV in the town of Castiglion Fiorentino, Tuscany.
