adidas’ 2016 U.S. Open tennis fashion lineup

The first day of the month means the countdown clock for the U.S. Open has begun. Yesterday we showed you the new Barricade 7 Novak Pro, and now adidas has revealed their new adizero and Barricade clothing lines. The look for New York is bright and in your face- I suppose, much like the city itself. Check our site sponsor Tennis Warehouse for all of adidas’ U.S. Open men’s and women’s apparel!

OK, let’s get down to it. The apparel features an energetic and fun triangular print, reflecting the landscape and non stop environment of the city that never sleeps – home to the season’s closing Grand Slam.

It really is great to see so much color  – summer really runs all the way through September in the northeast and it’s always felt a bit strange to see dark colors reflecting fall when it’s still so HOT out.

We also like the silhouette choices here, the dress is particularly flattering if you’ve got the figure to flatter. And the men’s Barricade…read on. VERY nice.

The women

Performing in the women’s collection (reminiscent of the Australian Open look?) will be Simona Halep…

A little more insight into the philosophy behind designing for these big tournaments:

“Each Grand Slam is unique, playing off the energy and vibrancy of its host city. We harness this energy in our collections for each tournament, refreshing our ranges to give them the geographical and seasonal relevance these great sporting moments deserve.

The 2016 US Open adizero range is a great example of how a print inspired by the people, architecture and skyline of one of the most iconic cities in the world, can enable athletes to deliver equally bold performances when they step out onto its courts.”

“The U.S. Open is an extremely special tournament to me, in one of my favorite cities, so it’s great to be able to bring a little piece of that onto the court with my adizero outfit. New York is notoriously humid in summer, but the cooling fabrics and technologies in my adidas dress are amazing and allow me to focus on my game.” -Ana Ivanovic.

The Men

Wearing the adizero men’s collection, which includes a polo shirt, performance t-shirt and bermuda shorts will be Sascha Zverev.

Adidas Barricade apparel will be debuted by Wimbledon quarter-finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and world number 9 Dominic Thiem. The men’s Barricade range offers bold uni color pieces in Tech Ink and Slash Red, with contrasting details for a premium finish.

Cutting-edge performance technologies designed for durability, the Barricade range enables athletes to perform in humid inner-city conditions via innovative Climacool fabrics that conduct heat and sweat away from the body.

Heat in August/September? In New York City? The humidity is what gets you.

The collection also features a unique laser dot ventilation for improved ventilation.
