New HEAD Speed tennis racquet line unveiled in Milan
Novak Djokovic and Head announced the new Head Speed tennis racquet series in Milan, Italy, at his “Djokovic & Friends” event. (The friends were none other than Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Flavia Pennetta and Fabio Fognini.)
Picking up the racquet’s tagline “Playing at the Speed of Light”, Djokovic emerged on the Assago Forum stage as if he were in the middle of some huge Hollywood production or rock concert. Flashing lights, hard charging guitars, the works. After getting his Graphene Touch Speed Pro on stage, he played an exo with Rafa Nadal (A well known Babolat guy- no other Head players available?)
No, the racquet doesn’t come with lights on it. That was for show. I think. Not a bad effect though.
The Speed series consists of six different models to cater to players’ individual playing style and personal preferences. The Speed Pro, MP, S, and Lite hit retail on September 23rd, (See Tennis warehouse availability here) and two more models will be available as of January 19th, 2017. TW says “this is the most comfortable and arm-friendly version of the Speed Pro to date.”
As far as cosmetics go, the racquet features several Novak friendly falcon-inspired design elements such as an iconic feather plumage pattern and a falcon head integrated into the SPEED logo. The bold red decals mixed into the mainly black and white frame give the racquet a fast and energetic look. To me, looks and sounds like a light sabre from Star Wars!

BTW HEAD was kind enough to send Karin a couple of frames from the Graphene Touch line to check out (the Graphene Touch Speed MP and HEAD Graphene Speed S): stay tuned for our look at those!
