Indian Wells Recap: Week 2 Highs And Lows

Roger Federer and Elena Vesnina are your Men’s and Women’s Singles winners at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. In the Men’s Final, Roger Federer won his fifth title in the desert, defeating countryman Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 7-5.

On the women’s side, Vesnina defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in an all-Russian three setter, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. Last year Vesnina lost in the qualifying!

 

Both men’s and women’s tours move cross country from the California desert to Florida for the Miami Open, which starts Monday. Here are some other highlights of week two:

Behind the lens, things get goofy:

Men’s SF

In the opener, the Stanimal had no problem with Carreno Busta, while Federer socked Jack in straights.

No Nick, no problem

Kyrgios had to default in his QF match with Federer due to illness, so Fed walked onto court for an impromptu interview.

Federer crushes Nadal

They billed the match #FEDALXXXVI for the 36th match between the two tennis titans, and it was over before it started. Federer wiped out Nadal in straight sets.

Kyrgios takes out five-time tournament champ Djokovic

It’s OK, he’s got a dozen more just like it

Djokovic showed his frustration and took it out on an unsuspecting racquet.

Kid stuff

Novak did find the time to rally with a tiny fan, who has got plenty of game at a young age.
