Lacoste Pairs With Designer Yazbukey For A Whimsical Capsule Collection
Lacoste has taken the little lull in major tennis action to reveal a fun loving new capsule collection. This particular collection humorously combines the offbeat pop world of the designer Yazbukey and the tennis heritage of the crocodile brand. (And you’ll notice Le Croc isn’t front and center on these.) A tennis match is played by three tennis ball-shaped emoticons and a crocodile on a line of clothing for men, women and children and on a line of leather goods. The line is due April 12. Meanwhile, you can check out the Lacoste lines at Tennis Warehouse USA (Men and Women) and Tennis Warehouse Europe (Men and Women.)
I see tennis as a visual sport, like synchronized swimming or figure skating. There is something artistic in the movements and codes of this sport. -Yazbukey
Looking elegant, the ball with dark sunglasses decorates a soft cotton piqué single-color polo in blue, navy, white and red. It goes for a seductive look with its red mouth on another polo and on a boat neck tee-shirt with an irregular check print.
I wanted to let Yazbukey play with the codes of mixed tennis in a way which was in step with her personal work. Very pop-style cartoon-like expressions on the balls, with a touch of humour, immediately seemed to me to be an obvious choice. -Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Lacoste Creative Director
Available in white, navy blue and red, the iconic cotton piqué polo is decorated with a tennis ball frightened by a crocodile whereas it shows off with dark sunglasses on a “wavy” striped polo, two tee-shirts with graphic prints and two-tone striped taffeta swim shorts.
