If you read Bodo's blog, TennisWorld, you know his style. This is not Saint worship or a dry snooze through tennis history. The book is a compilation of past posts devoted to "The Mighty Fed/TMF" in his golden middle period 2006-2009. Each post offers Bodo's often funny insights and observations of Federer's ride, playing style, rivalries, wins, losses and subsequent slide over time, plus a little note with hindsight.
Not that we're currently thinking slide as Fed heads into the 2012 Wimbledon finals.
"I've tried to keep a level head and appreciate not only the accomplishments and personality of the man but to identify and analyze what shortcomings he's had or mistakes he's made," says Bodo. Fed's fashion choices during those heady years, as example, were not something the author appreciated.
