As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And so it is with Novak Djokovic who has changed apparel contracts like a chameleon over the past 5 + years, first adidas, then Sergio Tacchini, now UNIQLO. His shoes however have stayed the same all the way through, without contract.
“The adidas Barricade is my favorite shoe. I have been wearing it for many years and have worn all the different generations," said Djokovic. "...I have very specific dynamic movements, with a lot of splits and slides, so I need to have the right stability in the shoe, but also have an optimal weight and great performance. The Barricade offers me everything ...”
And so the news today can only increase his happiness with the tennis shoe. adidas and Djokovic have at last partnered in a long term footwear deal. A win at Roland Garros 2013 would make it his 7th slam in the shoe, this time the Barricade 7.
