Caroline Wozniacki will wear new adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade at the French Open. Pictured are her summer dress and coordinating Barricade shoes.

Maria Kirilenko back in again with Stella McCartney.

Surprise, surprise, Maria Kirilenko is back wearing Stella McCartney. The announcement was made today at the adidas Stella McCartney barricade line launch in Melbourne. 

Back in 2008 Kirilenko was the only WTA player wearing adidas by Stella. She was then moved to adidas' Barricade line. Have to say she looked snazz in both but her petite frame is perfect for the designer range.

Alas, adidas Barricade and adidas by Stella McCartney have merged and Maria is back. Lovely.

Sneak Peek: Spring 2013 adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade.

Pictured is a sampling from the adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade tennis collection announced Monday. "Running yellow" is featured here but the items also come in solid white with touches of grey.

McCartney's newest performance fabrics are buttery soft, breathable and very thin, suitable for the heat coming their way in Australia. Gorgeous stitching, and not just one style, create pretty, body defining seams. Panels of mesh keep heat prone areas well ventilated and soft pleats add femininity to the tailoring. I love the backs of both the skirts and tops.

The tennis dress, $120, is a fit/go if you are in fab firm shape. The separates are more forgiving; buy a size up to achieve a smooth (less hugging) line against your body. 

I'm going to go for the white cap sleeve top $60, long sleeve $70, skort $60, coordinating visor, $25, and adidas Barricade 7 shoes, $120. 

Kudos to Ms. McCartney for bringing more WTA players into her house of tennis fashion and for building shorties into her tennis skirts and bra into the dress. Next wish, pretty please, modesty inserts for all built in bras.

Announcing adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade; Wozniacki, Petkovic + Robson to wear new tennis collection in Australia.

adidas has just announced a new tennis fashion collection, adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade, a group that merges two formerly separate collections, adidas by Stella McCartney and adidas women's Barricade.

Pictured  are Caroline Woziacki (above top) and Andrea Petkovic wearing the new line. Laura Robson will also wear the label. Comprised of structured dresses, separates and tennis shoes, the new adidas line comes in a palette of pastel yellow, blue and white with accents of silver and grey. The line is inspired by Stella's own RTW collection which uses feminine lines that flatter and enhance the female form. 

I'm going to be checking out the styles in the next day or so and will report back on that fit/flatter. I'm particularly curious about that panel of color over the mid section on the dress (left). Love the looks of the warm up jacket and long sleeve though; these are absolute spring necessities and a nice way to arrive on court looking put together.

Adidas reveals two daytime looks for Caroline Wozniacki at the US Open.

So the black dress is not the only look Caroline Wozniacki will wear at the US Open. Adidas has just revealed two additional outfits Caro plans to wear days in Flushing Meadows. The black one will be for evening.

Pictured are the adidas by Stella McCartney Performance Tank in cobalt and mystery, $70. A bra is built in but Caro is wearing a separate pink one under the grey top here.

The skirt is the Tennis Skort in either white/pop or white/cobalt, $100. Shorts are built into these babies. 

Sporty looks. I think I'll these looks better styled with the top untucked and with a white top though.

Caroline Wozniacki's US Open Tennis Dress. Glamorously fierce.

Caroline Wozniacki will wear this Stella McCartney Tennis Performance Dress at the U.S. Open. The new adidas dress features lingerie inspired seaming and transparent, breathable black mesh over rose-tan stretch jersey for what adidas calls a "glamorously fierce look" ($120 USD). 

Caroline's shoes, also by Stella, will be the new Sebellica, $200. Black, lightweight adidas perfomance tennis shoes with white soles.

Black connotes a certain level of sophisticated toughness on court, is always in style and somewhat glamorous. No polarizing frills or cheery colors this time around. 

"I have been very closely involved with Stella in designing my on-court looks and already know what I will be wearing in the year to come, said Caroline at a recent New Haven Open press meeting.  "I really enjoys the process."

The turn to black and simple may reflect Caroline's more studied, calm approach to the game today. "There is no stress. I do what I like to do and I enjoy it." She admits to being super competitive and not just in tennis; perhaps the black dress will reinforce that visually because otherwise Caro exudes very sincere sunniness. A pleasure.

Wozniacki is going for a 5th straight title at the New Haven Open at Yale. Next stop, Flushing Meadows.

Olympic Tennis Fashion 2012. Who's wearing what and why.

Getting your head around London 2012 tennis fashion is a bit of a challenge with all of the various Olympic alliances out there.

adidas is the official sportswear partner of London 2012 and you will see lots of it during the games (they are partners with 11 different nations with 3,000 + athletes) BUT you will see other brands as well and often not the ones you are used to seeing on your fav players. Here's why.

Any player representing a National Olympic Committee (NOC) or Federation will wear their country's Olympic product in the brand name sponsoring that NOC or Federation. Pictured above, for example, Heather Watson of Great Britain hams it up in some of her Team GB kit by Stella McCartney for adidas. During the regular tennis season Watson is sponsored by K-Swiss.

Nike, as further example, represents the US Tennis Federation and so all Team USA athletes will wear Nike even if it is not their year-round sponsor. We saw a glimpse of John Isner in Nike on the cover of a recent Tennis Magazine. He usually wears Lacoste. Andy Roddick is the same. 

It will be interesting to see what Team USA's Venus Williams will do. EleVen has released an image of a dress she is planning to wear. No swoosh in sight. Serena is all set. 

Enjoy what, from some countries, may turn out to be some seriously unusual fashion. Can't wait. Post Olympics, they will be back in their regular sponsor's brand.

adidas notes that contracted athletes representing countries where adidas does not partner with the NOC or Federation have been given generic International Olympic Committee (IOC) compliant outfits that they can wear if deemed ok by that individual's team federation, so their may be some leniency built in.

Next up, a look at the actual Olympics goods. Torch please. 

Caroline Wozniacki at Wimbledon.

We interrupt the French Open where Caroline Wozniacki is playing in the sunniest of yellows to let you know what the Dane will wear at Wimbledon 2012.

Wozniacki will step on the grass courts in the above white (of course) adidas by Stella McCartney tennis dress. She wore the same dress in tomato red in Australia. I love it in white, SO fresh and cool looking, $120. The silhouette is loaded with feminine detail like all-over engineered lace and a light floral accents. A Hot Pant and Performance bra are extra but essential to making this look work as they peek through, $50 each.

Wozniacki's shoes are the Sebellica Tennis shoe in white, metallic silver and lucid red, not new to the group. The Sebellica, at $200, is a for-Stella version of the Barricade VI. McCartney's off court pieces, the jacket, for example, are pulled from the brand's running group, finely constructed and lightweight, perfect for summer. New this year is ClimaCool technology built into these pieces. Other lust-worthy gear you will see on Wozniacki are from the adidas by Stella Studio group, designed for yoga.

Caroline Wozniacki at Roland Garros 2012. Sunshine in Paris.

adidas by Stella McCartney pays homage to Caroline Wozniacki's sunny side with this fresh lemon kit for Roland Garros 2012. 

Pictured is a two piece set, the adidas by Stella McCartney Tennis Performance Skirt, $95 with a flattering drape and wide elastic waist and the matching Tennis Performance Tank, $80, which has an open neck, loose blouson fit and closefitting waistband that pulls neatly over the skirt top. Mesh overlay makes the back quite interesting (see pic) and decorative topstitching and bow at neck adds fun. No bra built in. The visor is tomato red, $30 which is picked up in the shoes below.

Be careful with this lemon color if you are super pale. The top also comes in tin grey and core blue for those of us that can't wear bright yellow. 

Sunshine's tennis shoes are the lightweight, performance- driven adidas by Stella McCartney Sebellica and will run you a cool $200; yup, that's not a typo.

The Brit kit: Andy Murray Olympics 2012 by Stella McCartney.

Stella McCartney, creative director for team Great Britain, has just revealed the new adidas kits for British athletes at the Olympics 2012 in London. Each look focuses on the Union flag, breaking down the iconic design and reconstructing it with a modern, contemporary twist using high performance athletic fabric and construction.

Above is what Andy Murray will wear on the tennis court.

Caroline Wozniacki's Australian Open 2012 Tennis Fashion. New from adidas by Stella McCartney

WTA world number one Caroline Wozniacki (of Denmark) will hit the 2012 Australian Open in this new adidas by Stella McCartney tennis dress.

Check out the deep the mesh insert that runs down the middle of the chest and across the back and bodice; it's certainly one very selectively revealing and ventilated garment. A beautiful floral print runs through moisture wicking performance material where the dress is solid. The color? Tomato red and it's pretty without being brash (for the right complexion).

Curving seams emphasize the feminine shape although not in an overly clingy way. Shirred detail keeps it from lying totally flush in front. The flounce skirt adds fun movement to what would have been a much more provocative look had it had a straight skirt. The dress retails for $120 USD. A sports bra is a necessity. Stella wants you to buy hers with matching shorties,each around $50 and I think you really have to to make this look work properly.

Wozniacki's shoes are the new adidas Sebellica (also by Stella) and retail for $200.

Yes, it's a pricey tennis ensemble but I like it a lot better than last year's dress which had neckline no one seemed to love. Even Caroline didn't wear it as it went to market. This one looks really comfortable though, pretty and cool. She is going to look great.

Take a look at the dress in white on right, a much better color for me personally; I get a little red faced in the heat, tomato red to be exact, lol. No need to reinforce that so I'll be picking up the white one (which BTW I predict will be Caroline's Wimbledon frock).

Caroline Wozniacki's Look for the US Open + Fall/Winter 2011 adidas by Stella McCartney for tennis.

And here it is, the eagerly awaited new FW 2011 tennis line from Ms. Stella McCartney for adidas. What to choose? There are so many great pieces. Look for it all on Caroline Wozniacki over the next few months. 

"It's work out wear with attitude..." says McCartney. The group combines touches of both feminine and masculine detailing to give off a strong air of confidence. 

The "flavors" to choose from in the group are chalk white, universe grey (top on Caroline below), continental grey (darker grey top below), simple beige and calvi yellow (more of a pastel).

Wozniacki's dress for the US Open 2011 is in chalk white ($130 USD). It is currently my pick as the Porshe of tennis dresses for a lot of reasons. Is this the kind of detail and construction I miss by never buying couture? Probably.

Pictured above right is a section of the bodice. "Stella McCartney" is knit right into the horizontal elastic under the bust (enlarge pic with a click). The mesh side insets keep the body cool.

A very unusual, modern neckline contrasts with the empire waist, a smooth front ending in a tidy row of crisp, tux shirt-like pleats on front only that ride just higher than the back which drops a bit. On, it looks like you are wearing two layers of closely fitted men's tanks; the fabric is as light as thin silk but is stretchy climalite as any adidas performance garment. Note that the white is distinctly creamy, not bright at all (the images are deceiving). 

You will absolutely need the Seamless Performance Bra under the dress. Any other bra is going to wreck the look of the neckline. Add $45 for the bra and shorties.

Fit: To be honest, the dress is for the super-fit. It is not forgiving to a less than perfect midsection at all, neither is the lycra tank, above (which has marvelous detail too - see inset left in calvi).

As a lover of looser tops I will turn my purchasing attention to the pleated Tennis Skirt ($85), Easy Tank, ($75, left) , Clima Polo ($85), Tennis Shorts ($65, right) and Tennis Sleeveless Hoodie in universe grey ($100).  All have the looser fit and look I personally breathe easier in. But if you've got the pecs (and no extras), definitively give the tighter looks a try.

Check out the zip warm up jacket too, $150. It's lightweight and super cozy in a flattering pale beige.

Cocktails or tennis? The ruffle on Caroline Wozniacki's ruffle.

New tournament, new dress for WTA #1 Caroline Wozniacki. Really pretty color but ALOT of opining on that ruffled neckline. 

It's the contrast that evokes discussion. Elegant cocktail detail (the kind you'd see in Palm Beach at 5) juxtaposed with a fitted athletic cut, match worn hair, sweat and a fierce backhand. The collar pushes boundaries but isn't that what fashion does?

The dress performs, Caro's on a roll. What we are really seeing is tennis fashion at its best; an on court look that allows unique style self-expression without getting in the way of game. It doesn't always work.

The Tennis Ruffle Dress is performance apparel from adidas by Stella McCartney, $120 and is designed to be worn over the same undergarments that Wozniacki's AO look was. It comes in blueprint (as here, the color in Royal Copenhagen porcelain) and white. There's a cute short sleeved performance jacket that goes with it.

Caroline Wozniacki Australian Open 2011 Tennis Fashion

adidas by Stella McCartney is outfitting Caroline Wozniacki once again and good news (a couple of quick vuvuzela blasts) our Dane will have something different to wear for every major tournament in 2011. No more same-old same-old for Miss #1.

First look we will see is the sporty Ballerina Dress, pictured left, worn over a set of designed-to-be-seen, seamless underwear (see inset pic ). The dress looks to the traditional ballet costume for inspiration. No tutu thankfully, just a layered pleated skirt in white. The infrared underwear peeking through thoroughly modernizes the look.

This dress, much to my chagrin, will not be available in the US. It is destined for the European market only. The undies are included in that news.

What the US market will see are the other pieces in Stella's Spring/Summer 2011 collection for tennis: a  ruffle tennis tank in blueprint (inset left), $115; a pleated skirt in white or blueprint, $85; tank in infrared or white, $75; and big grey tennis tennis bag, $225 (below pic).

 Wozniacki's footwear with dash of infrared on white, will also be available internationally. Called the eileithyia tennis sneaker, a pair will run you $130.

Green kudos: The adidas by Stella McCartney collection is part of the adidas Better Place Program. The materials used in this Sport Performance collection come from sustainable sources, are produced without dangerous chemicals and are manufactured under high workplace standards (including waste and energy management).

Caroline Wozniacki's Got A New Dress For Fall 2010. It's About Time.

Caroline Wozniacki has a few new items to choose from. If I'm excited she must be ecstatic. I am hugely sick of my team uniform after two months and how long did she wear that last one? Let's talk fresh.

Pictured left and inset below is the new lingerie inspired climalite dress from adidas by Stella McCartney. This is the new version of the Tennis Performance Dress and it comes in white and dark slate for $120 USD.

The neon yellow you seen peeking through the dress left is the Tennis Performance Bra Top by adidas by Stella McCartney.  It has coordinating hot pants.Both pieces also come in white.

The dress is fully lined and solid in color with mesh at the top and a racer-back. I love the bandage like panel detail in front and back. It's a real svelte-making design.

The separates, top and skort, are the blouson like Tennis Performance Tank, $75 and Tennis Performance Skirt, $85.

Stella's princess, Caroline Wozniacki, debuts spring summer 2010 adidas by Stella McCartney dress.

Caroline Wozniacki will debut her second season of adidas by Stella McCartney at the Australian Open. The high end performance line has gotten some fab exposure on the talented Dane.  At the 2009 US Open  Wozniacki played her way to the finals, no better testament to the fact that although this line comes from a designer to the fashion elite it does its job well on court.

"...To say that I'm happy with the new line would be an understatement. I really do feel that looking your best on court and feeling good about yourself is an important factor in how you play..." said Wozniacki, currently number 4 in the Sony Ericsson WTA ranking.

At the Aussie she will wear the Tennis Performance Dress (above) in alloy, a fresh, very light grey-blue color (really faint on the blue). Climalite technology and mesh panels on the sides insure optimum ventilation and comfort. The fitted scoop necked design features a printed and embroidered floral motif on the front, $150 USD.

Also in the group is a cute tiered pleated skirt, $90. The coordinating polo is $85. Both pieces are pictured left. Wozniacki may play dubs in this.

Underneath everything she will wear the Performance Hot Pant and Bra in seed pearl. The warm up jacket is a biker influenced Tennis Performance Jacket (above) in slate green with diagonal zippers, chunky pockets, shoulder flaps and a belt to contrast the ultra feminine floral motif on the dress, $175. 

Her tennis shoes will be the Lucrari Tennis Performance Shoe in running white, aluminium and apollo. The shoe is based on the adidas Barricade V. Love them but ouch, $185. Her bag is the Delibuta Tennis Bag.

Fall/Winter 2009 adidas by Stella McCartney. Pretty, Pretty Performance, May I Have It Please?

Tennistas, here are the details on Fall/Winter 09 adidas by Stella McCartney. Pictured left is the smoked pink Tennis Performance Dress ($130 USD) and visor (not available). This is what the new face of the line, Caroline Wozniacki, will wear at the U.S Open over the line's tennis performance bra ($55) and hot pant ($50). The dress is short but super flattering with its layered scoop neck, dropped waist and flirty tiers of ruffles.

Below right, the CU Tennis Image jacket ($175) and woven pant in dark grape (also comes in light onix/grey). Both pieces have a bit of a sheen to them.

Wozniacki will also wear the Skynde Tennis Shoe in Seed Pearl, pictured bottom, in dark grape and white ($175). This shoe is based on the Barricade V. The Stella version is a dash more elegant and features patent leather stripes, a pearlized finish and an understated gunmetal grey name plate on the heel indicating the designer brand.

I originally saw adidas by Stella McCartney as a country club tennis brand -- you know, for the ladies who play, lunch and shop -- but I'm seeing more and more of the line seeping into high-level junior tournaments as fashion savvy teen girls with a yen to turn heads, snap it up and combine it with basics, going for a stand out on-court look. The line after all is truly designed for high-performance.

Although the stick thin model above would not last a set, believe me, this stuff looks powerful good on healthy, fit women. It's a nice contrast actually, the feminine cuts on super healthy, impressive hitters. Wozniacki will be a good ambassador.

Above is the new tennis performance polo ($68) and skirt ($100). The skirt color is light onix. I've checked them all out; if you like the look, you'll love it at play; gorgeous, lightweight and so unique.

Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark Selected to Wear adidas by Stella McCartney.

 

adidas announced today that Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark will wear fall/winter collection adidas by Stella McCartney beginning at the U.S. Open. Until today Maria Kirilenko was the only WTA tennis athlete allowed to wear the line as a sponsored player. Kirilenko will no longer wear the line.

 Wozniacki, currently ranked No. 9 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, has been selected to become the exclusive new face of the tennis line and will be playing in apparel and footwear from the distinctive sport performance collection.

“For me it is essential to wear products that combine performance and style," said Wozniacki. "I need to have breathable apparel and footwear that is lightweight, stable and well cushioned. With the adidas by Stella McCartney tennis line I feel like I have everything any fashionable female tennis player always dreams about: cutting-edge adidas technologies combined with Stella’s unique designs that actually perform. I always play better when I feel good, that is very important to me so I’m really excited about getting out on court in it!”

Stella McCartney comments “It’s very rare for a fashion designer to dress one of the top 10 players in the world. I couldn't be more thrilled and happy to be given that opportunity. Let’s hope this will enhance her performance!!”

Caroline will be wearing key styles from the new fall/winter 2009 tennis collection including the Performance Dress, the Performance Hot Pant and Bra in smoked pink and the Tennis Image Jacket in dark grape (pictured above). She will also wear the Skynde tennis shoe, in seed pearl, dark grape and white, which is built on the renowned adidas Barricade V tooling.

The fall/winter 09 adidas by Stella McCartney tennis collection hits retail in August. Prices range from $175 for the Skynde shoe, $130.00 for the Performance Dress and $175.00 for the Tennis Image Jacket.

Spring/Summer 2009 Tennis Preview From adidas By Stella McCartney. What's Not to Love?

  

Once again uber style meets performance with Stella McCartney's spring/summer 2009 tennis line. Key silhouettes in the new collection are inspired by playful twists on Ms. McCartney's current fashion line, combining feminine rouching, gathering, mesh, delicate lace appliques and fluted sleeves. Ornate Edwardian lingerie and vintage nightwear influenced looks contrast with close fitting performance body wear. Collection highlights I love include a super pretty empire fit dress (above). The Stella McCartney line includes Climalite technology with savvy little mesh cut outs here and there for ventilation. At this time, Maria Kirilenko is still the only pro athlete allowed to wear the line. Not a problem for the majority of us not on tour.

adidas by Stella McCartney-- Tennis Wear With Couture Detail

The Fall/Winter 2008 line from adidas by Stella McCartney is out and it's gorgeous. A mix of romance, boheme and on-court comfort. As usual, Stella's line is loaded with exquisite detail, buttons, pleats and overlays that truly bring couture to the court. We love the print dress in rubia grey. It's fitted and slimming with a not too overly sweet layered bubble skirt, $120.00 USD. It also comes in chalk (see above right). adidas by Stella McCartney -- We want the whole line

We thought that a fashion designer wouldn't have styles that really worked on-court. We were wrong. According to Stella McCartney, the adidas line's designer, "This collection is for women who take their sport and their style seriously. Why should we have to compromise one for the other." Well, we say, there IS a lot of great looking tennis wear out there but when you take a close look at this line, you'll see what Ms. McCartney means. The detailing on each piece is what makes her tennis tank, for example, a work of art. Some of the pieces are designed for play, the others are cover-ups, to put on or over your court-wear before and after your game.

The outfit above -- check out the hot little shorts -- is all part of the tennis cu (cover up) group. The fabrics are light and comfy. The polo is $100 U.S.D., the blouson jacket $165, and the shorts, $90. The image right shows the beautifully detailed pleated skirt, $100, with tennis hot pants, $60. The fitted tennis tank -- not pictured, but $100 -- has little enameled buttons up the front and fabric detailing that although sporty, is ultra feminine. The technical fabrics are light and unrestrictive.
