New group from Loup. Tennis fashion with another life.

Loup's 2011 fall tennis line is out. Yes it is made for the court although it really doesn't look like it does it? 

"We really try to push the boundaries at Loup with athletic style and want to give customers other options when they are playing tennis," says designer Danielle Ribner.

"We make styles people can wear on the court, but also feel comfortable walking around in, taking on vacation and working with their wardrobe. We have always felt that there was only one type of very athletic style for women playing tennis, and we aim to give people another choice that is more feminine, easy, fresh and influenced by what is happening in fashion now."

Ribner's fourth fall season attests to the fact that there is a market for more "street wise" tennis fashion, especially for those who play our game more casually. 

Pictured is Loup's Autumn 2011 Floral Gathered Skirt Dress, $95 USD. The cut is loose fitting, a drop waist with gathered skirt; a real toss on and go. You'll need a bra and pair of shorties.

The pieces range in price from $25 - $101. All are made from poly/spandex woven fabrics that are quick dry, wrinkle resistant, washable and dryable. Everything feels silky and soft but is made to perform.

Loup introduces Spring 2011 tennis fashion in Delray, Florida

Loup introduced its spring 2011 collection to the tennis world with its recent sponsorship of the Delray Beach International Championships (ITC).

Sydni Katz, WTA tour competitor, currently wears the line. Left is Loup's new slit-back flounce dress in navy, $97 USD. Below is the aqua stripe racer tank $55 and flowy short (with built in shorties), $70.

The new collection is vintage-inspired with a simple yet refined modern flare. Designer Danielle Ribner has added prints, ruffles, and bold colors into her already existing staples.

“This season unites traditional East Coast country club culture with the ease of Southern California lifestyle to create a feeling of relaxed resort wear and crisp everyday basics,” said Ribner. 

Loup blends 1970's influenced style with practicality by using chic silhouettes and light-weight materials. Stretchable, durable, and wrinkle-resistant fabrics with quick-dry qualities enable women to feel comfortable and look great on court.

Loup Ushers in Spring with a Fresh Tennis Fashion Line for Women.

Looking for something uniquely fashionable for the court? Loup has recently launched its Spring/Summer 2010 tennis collection. The distinctly youthful line blends retro fashion with functional materials, twelve different pieces in five colors. There is a girlie air to the collection, mostly conveyed by the model's poses I think. I actually popped one of Loup's dresses on a far stronger looking girl, and it looked great, still feminine, even with real tennis sneakers.

Pictured left is the Sheath dress with pocket (decorative only), a sleekly simple silhouette which includes a built in bra. It's 32 1/2" from shoulder to hem and comes in what they call deep purple (pictured here on left - it's blue to my eye), black and white, $95 USD.

The dress looks quite structured but the fabric is soft and stretchy (not clingy or tight). It is quick to dry as well. The company says that the line holds its color and shape workout after workout, wash after wash. I have not been able to test this but it's a good selling point given the prices of the items.

On the right is the very cute Gathered Zip Jacket, $97 over the white Gathered Skirt Dress, $95. The entire collection includes skirts and tops and ranges in price from $52 - $97.

The buzz! Introducing Loup. Tennis style for the fashion religious.

Loup has just launched its first line of tennis apparel for women.  Designer Danielle Ribner, a Parsons School of Design alum and player herself, created the line to give fashion conscious women feminine, chic tennis clothing that they can wear on and off the court.

The well cut garments truly lengthen and carve out curves without clinging. The skort for example has a zip-up side and snap closure for a puff free waistline. Fun to wear, you could totally see running errands and then popping onto the court without changing your clothes.

Pictured left is the charming 2-layer dress, a pull on style with t-back and built in shelf bra, $99 USD. The fabric is all stretch performance, a bit of a stiffer feel lightweight fabric but probably necessary for no cling. I did not play in it so I cannot report on breath-ability.

"I have always admired athletic brands," says Ribner, "but never felt a connection to them. I personally felt like I was dressing in costume to work out and it made me feel uncomfortable on the court and as well as walking around before and after I played. The idea for Loup always seemed like an obvious evolution of the athletic style for me. Why not make clothes I would want to wear on an everyday basis out of fabrics I can work out in?  I am a firm believer that if you feel comfortable and confident in your outfit, you always perform better."

At the moment the line is all solids and simplicity, black, white, dusty rose, hushed violet. Loup will be available in retail stores on the West Coast starting in November, online in December/January, and East Coast in spring time. Prices range from $60 for a top to $99 for the dress and coordinating jacket. The line is made in the good ole US of A.
