Serena Williams plays and wins her first US WTA tournament since 2009.
She's baaaack! On just her third tournament back after a year-long break from the game, Serena Williams took the title at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, CA This was her first WTA tourney in the US since 2009.
With this win Serena jumps from Number 169 to Number 79 in the world, moving up 90 spots. The new ranking, which will likely continue to improve, lends some reprieve to the top players on tour who might have faced Williams early on at the US Open has she hovered around the lower ranking.
Congratulations Serena and also to Marion Bartoli who played impressively all the way through the tournament.
Both Williams and Bartoli wear Nike and selected outfits from the brand's Fall group. Serena's top is the Smash Classic 3/4 top in hyper verde, $60 and smash pleated skort in black, $55.00. Bartoli wore the blue glow set point tank, $50 (with built in shelf bra) and skort in the same color, $50 giving the look of a dress with the comfort and versatility of separates. Pretty colors on both.
