Uniqlo has announced new lines for the 2014 US Open for their marquee players Novak Djokovic, Kei Nishikori, and world No. 1 men’s wheelchair tennis player Shingo Kunieda.

Djokovic insigniaFor Djokovic, the match shirt features an eagle motif – the national bird of both his native Serbia and of the United States – while eagle wings on the back are a nod to his style on the court. (Have not seen these yet.)
Uniqlo optimized the fabric, based on analysis of body temperature during play, with a first of its kind construction that features two types of mesh on the back. Incorporating Dry-Ex, which Uniqlo developed with Toray, it delivers outstanding ventilation for the back and armpits, to help control body temperature. It dries more quickly than previous Uniqlo models, maximizing comfort. Flat seams minimize chafing, while the buttons are hidden under the collar, for a clean, modern look.

For Shingo Kunieda and Kei Nishikori, the match wear is designed to look great both on and off the court, featuring red, white, and blue stripes inspired by the American flag, Route 66, blue skies, and the sunset.
Shingo Kunieda US Open UNIQLO
As with the Djokovic models, their match wear employs DRY-EX fabric and flat seams. Kunieda will sport a V-Neck T-shirt at the US Open, while Nishikori a polo shirt.
Ed. note: Novak has dabbled in birds of prey in the past. Here with Sergio Tacchini and Here with adidas. Is this how he views his opponents? BTW it is likely that the wings noted above will not be on at-retail merch.
