Novak Djokovic Officially Signs With ASICS
UPDATED Jan 11 Novak has moved around a bit in the tennis gear world. For clothing he’s been with adidas, Sergio Tacchini, Uniqlo and Lacoste, who he signed with last year. The footwear, though, has always been adidas. Until now.
This deal is shoes only, of course. These days, most pros wear shoes/clothing from the same company, like Federer, Serena, Nadal, Dimitrov and Sharapova (all Nike), or Monfils, Goffin, Konta, and Vandeweghe (Asics.) It’s actually rare to see tennis pros with separate (non head-to-toe) deals but there are a few especially when the apparel maker doesn’t make shoes (not the case for Lacoste). Djokovic, it appears, turned to ASICS at the conclusion of his adidas association. This shoe carries over his personal logo as well as the dove symbol, which you can see in the above video, on the tongue’s laces loop.
Will there be other Djoker models, maybe a cross trainer or running shoe? He’s big on fitness, you know. We’ll see how it goes! No info on the length of the deal yet. These are sharp looking shoes that match well with the classic Lacoste vibe.
